Been away awhile

Its been a busy basketball season for me. I haven't been able to get as much stuff up here on this page as I'd like, but I want to welcome you to take a look around and see if there's anything you like. There are plenty of free sets and lots of good free information here. I'm also trying to supplement my income (I am an unpaid assistant coach after all!) by selling my two playbooks: Attack Basketball and 4 Out Playbook. I'd be happy to send you a sample from either of these; all you have to do is drop me an email and I will be sure to send you some stuff.

UPDATE 10/25/11

Ok, so I disappeared for awhile. I moved, took a new job, and generally turned my life upside down. More on that in a minute. For now, I'm going to continue to put up a Play of the Day and try to give you, the Coach, a wrinkle or two you can add to your system. Also, don't forget that I have two products for sale: the Attack Basketball System and the Explosive 4 Out Playbook.

Now, on to the good stuff. I've taken a position as an assistant Women's Basketball coach at Green River Community College in Auburn, WA. I'm also in charge of recruiting, so if you know any females that might want to play CC ball, drop me a line.

New play of the day

Play of the Day 10/1/2011

Today's play of the day is a box set backdoor play. The 4 man has to act as if he is not involved in the play. It is important to not pass to the decoy, the 3 man.

After the 1 gets to the wing, the 4 steps hard to the ball, and the reverses and goes to the rim.

Today's set is out of a 3 out 2 in look. It is a great misdirection set that gives you early post-up options and a late screen and roll out of a cleared out side of the floor.

today's play of the day...Isolates the 2 man at the Elbow after a handoff opporunity for the 4 man. Simple but effective, especially if your 2 is good at going to his or her left.

Here's today's Play of the Day. Its something I've used at the end of a fast break situation to get our 2 man into a screen/roll situation with the trail post. Very simple but also quite effective.

Cool Stuff

As you can see, I'm trying to do a lot with this blog, and make it a destination for basketball coaches of all ages. Last weekend I was fortunate enough to get to the Northwest Basketball Coaches Clinic in Lake Stevens, WA. I was able to get some great notes and I even managed to take some video as well. I will be posting video later today and the notes will come shortly after.

Play of the Day 9/14/2011

Play of the Day, 9/12/2011

Today's Play of the Day is designed to get a quick backdoor bucket. From a 4 out set, 1 passes to the wing and cuts off a UCLA cut. As this is happening, 3 is flashing to the top of the key and 4 is diving to the rim. This play takes a bit of practice to get the timing down, but when you do, it usually good for a quick two!

Play of the Day, 9/11/2011

Today's Play of the Day comes out of a Box set. It is designed to get an initial post up for your 4 man, then there are options for the 2 man coming off 5's screen, and then finally a triple staggered screen for your 1 man. Lots of options on this one.

Here's today's Play of the Day. Again it involves a high ballscreen. This set is called Prairie. The timing is the key in this set; 2 should be coming off the baseline flex screen as 3 is making the catch.
